People Understanding & Undoing Racism…to Stop Black Global Cultural Genocide

~ PUUR's mission is to share the General History of Africa written by UNESCO to help Blacks reclaim their cultural identity; rectify the ignorance propagated by white writers, the slave trade, and colonization; counter the affects of forced assimilation / acculturation; and promote an African perspective with which to analyse current events. This ‘new’ history of Africa is mentally, emotionally, and psychologically transformative as, for example, it was for Detroit Red who emerged Malcolm X after learning his African history. Once intellectually ingested, like miracle substance, Blacks and non-white people of color are equipped to counter, neutralize, and abrogate the system or racism/white supremacy…once and for all.

At Least 5 Black Women Found Dead In Jail Since Mid-July

Top row: Raynette Turner; Joyce Curnell; Sandra Bland. Bottom row: Ralkina Jones; Kindra Chapman.

It’s been a little over two weeks since Sandra Bland was discovered dead in her Texas jail cell from what authorities say was a suicide.

In those 17 days since Bland’s controversial death, which has sparked social media fury and a plethora of unanswered questions, at least four more black women have died while in custody. Most of them were in jail for two days maximum. Most of them were being held on minor charges like shoplifting and were waiting to see a judge. Some of them suffered health issues. All of them should have been going home. All of them were fairly young, and all of them leave behind families and a community with questions, including, “What happened?”

In ‘Between the World and Me’

An Amazon Best Book of July 2015: Readers of his work in The Atlantic and elsewhere know Ta-Nehisi Coates for his thoughtful and influential writing on race in America. Written as a series of letters to his teenaged son,

Ta-Nehisi Coates Son

his new memoir, Between the World and Me, walks us through the course of his life, from the tough neighborhoods of Baltimore in his youth, to Howard University—which Coates dubs “The Mecca” for its revelatory community of black students and teachers—to the broader Meccas of New York and Paris. Coates describes his observations and the evolution of his thinking on race, from Malcolm X to his conclusion that race itself is a fabrication, elemental to the concept of American (white) exceptionalism. Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, and South Carolina are not bumps on the road of progress and harmony, but the results of a systemized, ubiquitous threat to “black bodies” in the form of slavery, police brutality, and mass incarceration. Coates is direct and, as usual, uncommonly insightful and original. There are no wasted words. This is a powerful and exceptional book.–Jon Foro

White Supremacy…An Infliction Against the African-American “Body”, Ta-Nehisi Coates

I’ve Wondered What Black Men Really Thought About Being Targets Of White Supremacy…Ta-Nehisi Coates  Shares

Ta-Nehisi CoatesBook Ta-Nehisi

‘White supremacy is an infliction against the African-American “body.”

…’children are raised in the ghettoes white supremacy built, an omnipresent fear of violence is no less a physical experience than a punch to the gut.

TR: What did you want African Americans to know that we didn’t know?

TC: That our condition is not a mistake. That we don’t need to run around pretending, as though there’s some great mystery going on—it’s not. If an alien came to planet Earth and looked at the socioeconomic statistics for African Americans and then measured that against the history and the policies of this country, there would really be no surprises about who we are and where we are. And I think that’s important, because there are things that are not within our control in this country.

But there are some things that always get out of control, and one of those things is the level of stress that we put on ourselves. The feelings that we have about our position. The doubt—I don’t want to call it self-loathing—but the effect it has that we have somehow done something to ourselves, injured ourselves. And I just want to relieve that stress. There’s no need to walk around feeling—to be fooled into thinking—that somehow you’re insufficient as a human being. And that’s the condition that we find ourselves [in].

On the contrary, I have always said that, to be perfectly blunt, there’s nothing wrong with black people that the complete and total elimination of white supremacy would not fix. And that’s what I believe, and I want black folk who read that piece to know, “You’re OK.” You know? That the conditions within the community are not OK, but as a human being, you’re OK.

Koch Brothers Back Obama Push For Sentencing Change

imagePresident Barack Obama will champion sweeping reform of the criminal justice system during a speech to the NAACP annual convention on Tuesday in Philadelphia, press secretary Josh Earnest said Friday. Obama will present ideas to make the system “safer, fairer and more effective,” Earnest said.

This week, Obama will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit a federal prison when he goes to a medium-security facility in El Reno, Oklahoma. He’ll also sit for an interview with Vice News for an HBO documentary on the criminal justice system, Earnest said.    By Justine Sink      http://bloom.bg/1HRY84Y

We Charge Genocide

In May and June 2012, Operation Ghetto Storm (OGS) documented 30 Black people killed per month by police, security guards and vigilantes. In May 2015, The Guardian’s website counted 26 killed by police alone. Their count for June 2015 is 19. If they followed OGS methodology to include vigilantes and security guards, the total for June 2015 would be at least 28 or one every 25.7 hours for the month.

If We Would Only Take A Peek…

Black Hair

If we would only peek…just take a peek at our history. It has to be good, great, even astonishing or they wouldn’t keep it from us.

If it was full of dirt, violence, and crud…they being drowning us in it…the fact that they continue to find ways to hide it from us should tell us just how great it is.

What do whites think we’d do if we knew our history?

Well, I just found an article that says they keep it from us because it will give us a it will awaken our collective memory and motivate us to reclaim greatness and that they don’t want because then they can’t control us anymore.

Update on ‘Operation Ghetto Storm’: The Enduring War on Black People in US

Two years ago today the acquittal of George Zimmerman re-kindled a movement against impunity for police and vigilante killers.

stolen Lives

“Once the classic method of lynching was the rope. Now it is the policeman’s bullet … We submit that the evidence suggests that the killing of Negroes has become police policy in the United States and that police policy is the most practical expression of government policy … Force and violence systematically and consistently employed to quell the righteous anger of Blacks is justified by calling murder an exercise ‘law and order’.” — from We Charge Genocide, 1951 Petition to the United Nations edited by William Patterson, endorsed by W.E.B. DuBois, Paul Robeson, Harry Haywood and others.

More than six decades have passed since Patterson’s authoritative study of police killings of Black people. Within that span, the Deacons for Self Defense and others used arms to protect the Black Freedom Movement against vigilantes in the South; the Black Panther Party for Self Defense organized thousands of people based on the demand to end police brutality and murder of Black people; and insurrections sparked by police atrocities rocked every major city in the country.

In This Over Sexualized Culture…Anything Goes

African & European Cultures Differ Sexually: One is Over Sexualized,

The Other Isn’t

Archbishop CarlsonSt. Louis Archbishop Carlson said he’s not sure he knew sexual abuse was a crime

No Word For SexIn this live presentation, Malidoma Somé and his wife Sobonfu take us into the Dagara village and give us their tribal view of intimacy, relationships and marriage.  In spite of Western influence, there still is ‘no word for sex’ in this African Village.

Which is ‘over sexualize’…which isn’t?  The only culture most African Americans know is Western ‘over sexualized’ culture and, so they too are sex addicts.  We can only be what we know.  For the sake of our children, is this not enough reason to learn African culture?

Intimacy

Referencing intimacy, not sex, a good place to start is The Spirit of Intimacy by Somonfu Some’  Born in Dano, Bukina Faso, a remote West African village that has perserved traditional Africa village life, with family structures, spiritual practices, and methods of living that’ve been place for more than 10,000 years…including the nature of intimate relations (review from Amazon).
