If A Movie Teaches Black Kids Black/African Cultural Values…It’s A PUUR 10
Joe Madison, Sirus talk show host, agrees with me, Race, dispute artistic liberties, the writers and directors, did a good job.
But…PUUR agrees with UNESCO, ‘Until the lions (African Americans) have their own historians (movie writers & directors, etc.), the history (movies) of the hunt will always glorify the hunter (white man).

BERLIN/NEW YORK, Feb 11 (Reuters) – Meryl Streep, the most admired actress of her generation, fueled Hollywood’s diversity controversy on Thursday when she said that all of humanity originated in Africa.
The three-time Oscar winner, who is in Berlin heading up her first international film jury, made the comment at a news conference when she was asked if she was familiar with world cinema, particularly films from Africa and the Middle East.
She said she had recently seen the Jordanian film “Theeb,” about a Bedouin boy on a hazardous mission in the desert, and also “Timbuktu,” about Islamist militants taking over the fabled Malian city.
“The thing that I notice is that there is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture,” she said. “And after all, we’re all from Africa originally, you know. We’re all Berliners; we’re all Africans, really.”
The comments from Streep, who has been Oscar-nominated a record 19 times, made headlines around the world and swiftly became one of the top trends on Twitter.
They followed an uproar over the all-white Oscar acting nominee selection for a second straight year, which forced the movie industry to confront how blacks, Asians and Latinos are represented in front of and behind the camera in Hollywood.
Some commentators on Thursday expressed disappointment.
“You’d think Meryl Streep would be smarter than to say “We’re all Africans, really” in any context, but alas,” said @Jamil Smith.
Others said Streep’s remarks were misinterpreted.
“Watch the whole interview before jumping on Meryl Streep,” tweeted @evansArmour. “Her quote was taken out of context.”
Black Magic Woman’s tweet included a poster of Streep’s 1985 “Out of Africa” film, where she plays a white land owner. “Now we know Meryl Streep was serious when she made this movie,” the tweet said.
Streep’s U.S. representative did not return calls for comment or clarification.
In Berlin, Streep said her seven-member, mainly female jury included a film critic and a photographer and that the panel would have diverse viewpoints.
“We will be looking at different things in these films,” she said, “but we’re human beings, and film is an emotional experience so … we’re going to make these decisions based on what our heads want to say.
“But we’re first attacked by the heart, so that’s an interesting process. I’m so looking forward to it.” (Additional reporting by Jill Serjeant in New York, Editing by Katharine Houreld and Lisa Von Ahn)
*Or is it genetic…white folk been lying so long maybe their brains are now wired to ‘lie’… per Neuroplasticity – also called brain plasticity or brain malleability is the inherent ability of the brain to change in response to experiences. All the front running politicians, except Bernie Sanders, are pathological lyers, i.e, they lye habitually.
White Culture Kills…Black African Culture Sustains Life…Living Like White People…Is Dangerous…Even They Say So…
The Black African way of living is ‘communally’, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’…not 2 parents, and in an ‘extended family’ like African Americans, Native Americans, and other people of African descent or people of color did before their ‘acculturation’. …or ‘cultural genocide’.
Understanding How Racism Functions In The Life Area Of ‘War’
Which Life Area? Education, Entertainment, Health, Family/Relationship/Sex, Labor, Law, Religion or War…
Black-On-Black Violence: The Psychodynamics of Black Self-Annihilation in Service of White Domination by Amos N. Wilson
We must then recognize as we begin to look at Black upon Black violence. We must see that violence and it’s connections to a racist society and we must come to understand what a racist society is about. We use that term so often without analyzing it very well. We must recognize essentially then that a racist society is about structuring social and political economic circumstances, psychological and cultural circumstances, such that one race can take advantage of another, and one race can enhance itself at the expense of another. It has little to do with overt race hatred, or with negative racial attitudes, or with the projection of racial stereotypes, or with whites not understanding the nature of their racism. That’s not it! When you define it in terms of attitude, you find yourself then, solving the wrong problems. These people will stop expressing those negative attitudes. They will smile more regularly at you, they will even marry you, and go to bed with you, sleep with you, but you will note that the effects of racism, the effects of poverty and all of these other things will continue, but not only do they continue, they increase.
Ultimately you must recognize that racism involves the power of one race to impose its will upon another, that ultimately then it is about power and we have to face that fact. Whites engage in racism because they have the power to do so, and if we are to end white racism, then we must end white power. We use the word imperialistic society and imperialism often, also without looking at the term very deeply. Imperialism of empire, speaking then of a group of people, who through various means, have acquired and maintained an empire, who maintained and exploit, control over populations much larger than themselves. (we heard a reference here tonight about the total European population being about 10%, yet in control of 80% of the world’s economic resources, and in control of the other 90% of the world’s population). You’re talking about Empire then Ladies and Gentlemen. And what does that imply? That means then, you have a small population that is ruling over populations that are much, much, much larger than it is. This can only be possible when that small population maintains the larger populations in a state of false consciousness and in a state of deception. That this small population can only maintain control over those larger populations by outright lying and the falsification of reality. But recognize in essence then, (in terms of what was spoken here, the Colin Powells, the Black soldiers in the Armies), you have to recognize that the essential nature of imperialism is that due to the fact that the imperialist group or nation that runs the empire is so small compared to the empire, it must recruit from the very population it rules in order to control that empire.
When you study the history of imperialism, (particularly the history of imperialism regarding African people which has been going on now for over 2,000 years), and colonialism from the African continent, and you’ve studied Chancellor Williams book, you cannot help but recognize that non- European imperialism and European imperialism has been aided by Africans who were recruited into the armies of the imperialistic masters and were used to practice black upon black violence against their African brothers in the name of their European masters.

African Cultural Values…The 1st Respect, The 2nd Be Quiet & Listen
Creed…Wouldn’t Have Made It If He Hadn’t Listened & Followed Instructions
My grandsons saw Creed. I asked them what they learned…then I explained that…
Rocky didn’t want to train anybody anyway, if Creed had not been respectful and done as he was told, Rocky would have not been bothered
Creed would not have ‘made’ it if he hadn’t listened…done as he was told…without back talk
So, if they, my grandsons, expect to do well, AT ANYTHING, THEY MUST LEARN TO LISTEN…TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS…TO THE LETTER…
Our children have been distanced from us, purposefully; it is a tactic of the system of racism/white supremacy to acculturate us. So, the media’s replaces us as parents; it teaches our children white cultural values of disrespect & being ‘educated fools’, as my grandmother used to say…thinking they know more than elders.
So, while they’er still young, a psychiatrist friend told me, the best way to counter the affects of the media and other forms of mis-education, is to reinterpret everything for our children.
To help us understand the media’s impact, I suggest we familiarize ourselves with the works on Tony Browder on the topic of the media:

White Privilege? White Officer Kills Black Teen Then Wants To Sue Teen…Black People Need Know That White Think Tanks Generate Justifications…We Need Think Tanks To Generate Justifications Based On The Truths Of History
The Chicago police officer accused of killing 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier just after Christmas says he intends to file a lawsuit against the dead teenager’s estate, alleging that LeGrier assaulted the officer and caused him emotional distress.
Officer Robert Rialmo claims he shot LeGrier seven times because the teenager swung a bat at him. Rialmo also accidentally shot a neighbor, Bettie Jones, in the chest and killed her.
Rialmo’s plan to sue was revealed after a hearing for the victims’ wrongful death lawsuit against the city. Bill Foutris, an attorney for the LeGrier family, told CBS Chicago that the countersuit is a desperate attempt to distract from the fact that Rialmo shot LeGrier four times in the back without justification.
The events that led to the shooting are still unclear, but LeGrier called 911 and requested police assistance several times before he was killed. The dispatcher hung up on him and ignored his pleas for help.
Though Rialmo is planning to file a civil lawsuit for his emotional distress, it is not uncommon for police officers to criminally charge victims of brutality with assault, a tactic known as a “cover charge.” New York City prosecutors even charged an unarmed police shooting victim with felony assault, for causing police to accidentally shoot bystanders when they were aiming for him.
LeGrier’s shooting has fed city officials’ anxiety over police accountability after the city released a video of Officer Jason Van Dyke shooting another teenager, Laquan McDonald, 16 times. Since then, the pressure to punish the top decision-makers has grown. Several police officials have resigned or been fired, including Superintendent Garry McCarthy. On Tuesday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel released his text messages from the week of LeGrier’s shooting. The conversations are dominated by a prevailing concern of how the media was responding. “Media acting breathlessly?” Emanuel asks the interim superintendent after LeGrier and Jones were shot. “You are positive no public negative reaction?”
The Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the department to determine if there is a pattern of discriminatory and abusive policing. The publicity over McDonald’s shooting also revealed that Chicago police have tried to destroy misconduct records and intentionally tampered with dashcam recordings, presumably to hide evidence of wrongdoing.
Institutional/Systematic Racism Tricks Us: Paying $200 for Toxic Water…That Predisposes Our Children To Prison
The water in Flint, Michigan, is so contaminated with lead it runs brown out of the tap, causes rashes on skin, and is making people’s hair fall out, but the city is still charging residents up to $200 a month in water bills for it.
According to a report from Mic, citizens are still receiving bills from the city for water that smells like sewage even on the few occasions it runs clear. Nisa Seal, a Flint resident, said she’s basically paying $110 a month just in order to be able to flush her toilet.
“This shit is criminal,” Kendrick Boyd, another resident, told Mic. “[Governor Snyder] deserves to go to prison for this.”
President Obama has declared a state of emergency in the city, freeing up $5 million in federal aid funds to help with the public health crisis which began when Flint changed its water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River to save money. Inadequate provisions were made to ensure the water was treated effectively with anti-corrosion chemicals, and lead leached from the city’s ancient pipes and fixtures, resulting in a water so polluted the Environmental Protection Agency deemed it “toxic waste.”
Citizens complained about the taste, odor, and color of the water immediately, but went unheeded by the local government for over a year. The city also dismissed reports about elevated lead levels in the blood of children. Lead exposure can cause a number of health problems, including brain damage. Approximately 87 cases of Legionnaire’s disease have also been reported since the water supply switch, including 10 deaths.
“It’s something they’ve known for two years,” said Boyd. “It’s not something they didn’t know. Before they switched our water back to Flint, the previous year they told us the river was condemned. Then they gave us the water to drink. So if this wasn’t a blatant or conscious decision, I don’t know what was.”
Governor Snyder finally admitted something was wrong in January, but has resisted calls for his resignation and arrest. In an interview with the National Journal, Snyder compared the crisis to Hurricane Katrina. This would be apt if not for the fact that, as pointed out by the Obama administration when it denied Snyder $96 million in FEMA funds, the public health emergency in Flint is not an environmental one. It is a man-made one.
How Are The Children? An African Greeting…Not, What’s Happening?, What’s Up?, or How Ya’ Doing?
“There’s real danger that the injury is going to be permanent and lifelong in them,” said Dr. Philip Landrigan of the impact of the water contamination in Flint, Michigan while speaking to CBS News. Dr. Landrigan is the Dean of Global Health at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He told the publication that prolonged exposure to water with a high concentration of lead could have lasting effects that parents, and the city, need to be worried about.
And yet, we know that an official for the Environment Protection Agency (the EPA) knew that there were issues with Flint’s corrosion controls since early last year and didn’t share that information with the public. And, state health officials claimed the water was just fine until tests done in September by Marc Edwards, a professor at Virginia Tech, found considerably high levels of lead. In that same month, a pediatrician also found that a substantial number of children were coming in with lead poisoning. And then there’s the possible connection of the tainted water, which came about due to the lead from aging pipes, to the outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease (a waterborne condition) in some county residents, which killed 10 people. The water supply wasn’t switched back to the Detroit system until October after initially switching to their backup source to save money, Flint River.
“The problem here is, no level of lead is safe,” Landrigan said. “Even low levels of lead — especially if exposure to low levels continues over many months — is going to cause some degree of brain damage to at least some of the children who have been exposed — that’s a big deal.”
Landrigan continued, “These children are going to be injured for life. They’re going to need remedial education, they’re going to need educational enrichment programs.”
And people in the community are already working to ensure that the children of Flint will be provided with such programs and treatment.
Over the weekend, the United Way of Genesee County estimated that between 6,000 and 12,000 kids have been exposed to lead poisoning due to the water contamination. They have since put together a fundraising campaign, hoping to raise upwards of $100 million in 10 to 15 years, to help cover medical treatment.
And the state has been called upon by politicians in Michigan also to commit financially to a long-term plan to help children in a myriad of ways impacted with “cognitive, behavioral and health challenges.”
As stated by Landrigan, children exposed to lead poisoning could face temporary, and in some cases, permanent, developmental setbacks, behavioral problems and have lower IQ numbers.
“They’re kids who are going to be prevented from functioning at their full level.”
