Joe Biden Blames Sexual Assaults on ‘white man’s [Patriarchal] Culture’

He Should Have Also Said: Black/African Matriarchal Culture Isn’t Sexist

Women have been suffering in “a white man’s culture” — which has continually turned a blind eye to sexual assault and misconduct, according to former Vice President Joe Biden, who propped up Anita Hill as an example.

“To this day I regret I couldn’t come up with a way to give her the kind of hearing she deserved,” Biden said Tuesday while speaking at an event to combat sexual violence on college campuses.

“But I also realized there was a real and perceived problem the [Senate Judiciary] committee faced: They’re a bunch of white guys.”

The 76-year-old Democrat continued, “No, I mean it sincerely — a bunch of white guys…hearing this testimony. So…when Anita Hill came to testify, she faced a committee that didn’t fully understand what the hell it was all about.”

Biden, who was Judiciary chairman for the 1991 Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings, got criticized heavily for his handling of the Hill situation. Thomas was accused of harassing Hill, who is black, while he was her supervisor.

“Last fall, you saw it all over again in the Kavanaugh hearing,” Biden blasted. “Almost 30 years…the culture — the institutional culture — has not changed. We have an obligation to change the culture in this country.”

Later on during his speech, Biden brought up a widespread misconception about the “rule of thumb” being an old reference to British common law and it’s tolerance of domestic abuse.

“This is English jurisprudential culture — a white man’s culture,” Biden said, describing how people think the “rule of thumb” was a law that allowed husbands to beat their wives with sticks no thicker than their thumbs.

“It’s got to change,” he repeated.

Describing sexual assault, Biden claimed it was “about the abuse of power.”

“It’s not about sex,” he said. “It’s about power. The most insidious abuse of power of all. And right now we live in a culture where the abuse of power is allowed to penetrate the highest offices of government, where it lives in board rooms and global corporations, and it poisons entire industries — from Hollywood to hotel workers. It pushes down women all around the world.”

Biden spoke for more than a half hour during Tuesday’s event, which was held at the Russian Tea Room in Manhattan. He repeatedly condemned violence against women throughout his speech.

“No man has a right to lay a hand on a woman, no matter what she’s wearing, she does, who she is…Never,” Biden said. “If you see a brother taking an inebriated co-ed up the stairs at a fraternity house and you don’t go and stop it, you’re a damn coward. You don’t deserve to be called a man.”

Needs to change?  To what? Answer: Matriarchy is isn’t hierarchical, i.e., sexist, classist, or racist.

If The Grass Roots Aren’t Prepared To Move Into Positions of Power, the Middle Class…Mulattoes Will

And…  Nothing Will Change

My opinion, since the ‘grass roots’ have not prepared (studied) people to be politically literate to represent them, a Kamala Harris is better than any white person.

But historically, mulattoes, if they haven’t been taught African history or taught a sence of social justice, they tend to think, act, and govern as whites do.

But, let’s be clear…Kamala Harris didn’t live an ‘inner city’ life…and  though, non-white, lived a middle class existence…her mother is Indian, see her mother’s sister below and her father’s mother is Tamil Indian and his father is Jamaica.

But to really understand the role of the middle class who’re often mulattoes…because they’re often granted more privilege (more education, better jobs, higher positions) than ‘darker’ non-whites and, because they’re asked to support the system of racism/white supremacy for the privilege…you need to read Fanon, Chancelor Williams, and/or just google mulattoe, buffer group…

They Say, Africans Sold Africans…Are Black Republicans Doing The Same Thing?

Whites Often Excuse Their Enslavement of Africans By Saying,

Well, Africans Sold Africans Into Slavery…Is This The Same?

Are Black Republicans Selling Out Black People in 2018?

I say no! Because a few people acting in the interest of whites is in no way comparable to the world wide colonization process or the systematization of racism / white supremacy by whites.

And, wherever people are oppressed, there were/are numbers of the oppressed who collaborated with whites.

For example, there were Jews…the Jewish Ghetto Police who policed the Jews for the Nazis & the Judenrate which was responsible for the internal administration of Jewish ghettos for the Nazi’s.  Jewish author, Hannah Arendt says, “To the Jew, this role of the Jewish leaders in the destruction of their own people is undoubtedly the darkest chapter of the whole dark story.

Yet, no one ever says, well, Jews transported Jews to the gas chambers or exterminated Jews.

Since we’re talking about the oppressed who collaborate and collaborated with the white oppressor, let’s take a brief look at the history of this phenomena which was codified as an integral aspect of the colonization process with the purposeful creation of the ‘buffer group’.

We know that ship loads of white men circumnavigated the world subjugating the global Black and brown majority.  These men had babies by the local women which created a ‘buffer group’ of mixed or mulatto children.  This group inevitably, served as a buffer group between the white and Black populations.

Chancellor Williams in The Destruction of Black Civilization tells us that whereas “…in the US, all Africans and persons with any discernible African blood were legally classified as Negroes…[but in] other parts of the world where Mulattoes are either classified as white or given the legal status of a separate ethnic group with a privileged status above those with dark or black complexion.”

The privileges can include better education, jobs, and general living conditions.  And, ‘the function of the buffer group is to mirror back the desirability of white norms, values, beauty, and cultural activity’ (Roxann Wheeler, Complexion of Race).

Having been socialized to value the norms of the white oppressor group they act like the white oppressor group.  As, Dubois tells us, if we only learn and know white history and culture, you will think and act white (Dubois, 1960 speech Whither Now and Why).  The converse of that is, a Black person will only think/act Black if they learn/know African history and live African culture.

So, it’s those Blacks who’ve been acculturated, who have assimilated or who are bicultural, or who have not learned their history/culture who meet with Trump.

SIX PROFILES  OF  BLACK  PEOPLE
(from White & Black Identity Development Models)
Peter Bell
1.  Acculturated                                    – Black Republicans who met with
Trump, Africans who sold Africans to                                                                    whites, Jewish Judenrate, Clarence                                                                      Thomas, Michael  Jackson
(was raised Black but taught to dislike
Africa and his Blackness; not taught
African history or any thing good
about Africa and Blackness and lived
most of his adult life with whites who                                                                  adored him)
2.  Bicultural                                         – Black Republicans who met with                                                                            Trump, Jewish Judenrate, Marian                                                                          Berry, Bill Cosby, John Conyers
(Berry, Cosby, Conyers –  internalized                                                                    white values referencing women)
3.  Culturally Immersed Afro-centric   – Malcolm…went from Detroit Red to
Malcolm X as consequence of learning
African history while in prison, Ta-
Nehisi Coaes, Chancellor Williams,                                                                         Barbara Sizemore, Frances Welsing,
Patricia Newton, Nathan Hare,                                                                               Molefi Kete Asante, Tony Browder)
4.  Traditional Un-acculturated             – Blacks born prior to 1945…went
                                                                to segregated schools with teachers
                                                                socialized in African culture…

Happy Birthday to WEB DuBois…Without Black Culture, We’ll Act White…

Dubois 2

Coming to the conclusion, finally, that racism wasn’t going end, the night before the US government was to take his & his wife’s passports, they  left the US for Accra, Ghana where he died on August 27, 1963.

What He Taught Me About Mental/Psychological Genocide of Black People

What he taught me that what I see in the behavior of my people today, especially, young people… ‘mental and psychological genocide’, that is, with each generation, we’re acting less and less Black and more and more white.

How?  Well let him explain it to you like he did to me… at the top of the 2nd page of his 1960 speech…

Whither now and why, March 31, 1960

In this speech to the Association of Negro Social Science Teachers, Du Bois challenges that “what we must now ask ourselves is when we become equal American citizens what will be our aims and ideals and what will we have to do with selecting these aims and ideals.” To wholeheartedly accept the ideals of white Americans would mean the destruction of African Americans as a distinct people: to “become white in action if not completely in color.”

Du Bois argues that he is fighting for the possibility of a distinctive black culture to exist without discrimination in America. School desegregation brings new challenges in terms of educating African American students, for instance, fewer opportunities for learning about African American history and literature, the likelihood of hostility on the part of many white teachers toward their black students, and the probable disappearance of black colleges. African American teachers will face the special burden of advocating for the preservation of black literature and history as part of the curriculum at racially-integrated schools. Teachers and parents must also carefully guide African American children into vocations that work toward the public good, not just the accumulation of profit.

Du Bois also speaks to the difficulty for educators of teaching their students to think critically about the government or about capitalism for fear of losing their jobs. He appeals to teachers to teach the truth even if it means risking their jobs, to learn about socialism and communism, to travel to socialist countries, to never bow to the “new American slavery of thought”, and above all to work for peace in the world.

So, to be Black, ideologically, like Wakandans and see the world through a Black vs white lens and function for the benefit of us and not them…learn African history and live African culture…as the Wakandan’s will soon be teaching Killmonger…as DuBois would recommend they do.
