People Understanding & Undoing Racism…to Stop Black Global Cultural Genocide

~ PUUR's mission is to share the General History of Africa written by UNESCO to help Blacks reclaim their cultural identity; rectify the ignorance propagated by white writers, the slave trade, and colonization; counter the affects of forced assimilation / acculturation; and promote an African perspective with which to analyse current events. This ‘new’ history of Africa is mentally, emotionally, and psychologically transformative as, for example, it was for Detroit Red who emerged Malcolm X after learning his African history. Once intellectually ingested, like miracle substance, Blacks and non-white people of color are equipped to counter, neutralize, and abrogate the system or racism/white supremacy…once and for all.

Understanding How Racism Functions In The Life Area Of ‘War’

Which Life Area?   Education, Entertainment, Health, Family/Relationship/Sex, Labor, Law, Religion or War…

Black-On-Black Violence: The Psychodynamics of Black Self-Annihilation in Service of White Domination
by Amos N. Wilson

We must then recognize as we begin to look at Black upon Black violence. We must see that violence and it’s connections to a racist society and we must come to understand what a racist society is about. We use that term so often without analyzing it very well. We must recognize essentially then that a racist society is about structuring social and political economic circumstances, psychological and cultural circumstances, such that one race can take advantage of another, and one race can enhance itself at the expense of another. It has little to do with overt race hatred, or with negative racial attitudes, or with the projection of racial stereotypes, or with whites not understanding the nature of their racism. That’s not it! When you define it in terms of attitude, you find yourself then, solving the wrong problems. These people will stop expressing those negative attitudes. They will smile more regularly at you, they will even marry you, and go to bed with you, sleep with you, but you will note that the effects of racism, the effects of poverty and all of these other things will continue, but not only do they continue, they increase.

Ultimately you must recognize that racism involves the power of one race to impose its will upon another, that ultimately then it is about power and we have to face that fact. Whites engage in racism because they have the power to do so, and if we are to end white racism, then we must end white power. We use the word imperialistic society and imperialism often, also without looking at the term very deeply. Imperialism of empire, speaking then of a group of people, who through various means, have acquired and maintained an empire, who maintained and exploit, control over populations much larger than themselves. (we heard a reference here tonight about the total European population being about 10%, yet in control of 80% of the world’s economic resources, and in control of the other 90% of the world’s population). You’re talking about Empire then Ladies and Gentlemen. And what does that imply? That means then, you have a small population that is ruling over populations that are much, much, much larger than it is. This can only be possible when that small population maintains the larger populations in a state of false consciousness and in a state of deception. That this small population can only maintain control over those larger populations by outright lying and the falsification of reality. But recognize in essence then, (in terms of what was spoken here, the Colin Powells, the Black soldiers in the Armies), you have to recognize that the essential nature of imperialism is that due to the fact that the imperialist group or nation that runs the empire is so small compared to the empire, it must recruit from the very population it rules in order to control that empire.

When you study the history of imperialism, (particularly the history of imperialism regarding African people which has been going on now for over 2,000 years), and colonialism from the African continent, and you’ve studied Chancellor Williams book, you cannot help but recognize that non- European imperialism and European imperialism has been aided by Africans who were recruited into the armies of the imperialistic masters and were used to practice black upon black violence against their African brothers in the name of their European masters.

The Sky’s the Limit: People v. Newton, The REAL Trial of the 20th Century?

Book by retired Judge Lise Pearlman…

The Sky’s The Limit: People v. Newton, The REAL Trial of the 20th Century? by retired Judge Lise Pearlman offers a people’s history of the 20th century in the U.S. through major court trials.

This journey takes readers to the 1907 Idaho murder trial of 8-hour day champion Big Bill Haywood that prompted laborers to march by the tens of thousands in the streets of Boston and Manhattan; Clarence Darrow’s stirring defense in 1925 of black homeowners in Detroit besieged by the KKK bent on protecting whites-only neighborhoods; the 1969-70 Chicago Seven and Black Panther Party Chairman Bobby Seale bound and gagged; the controversial prosecution in 1987 of subway vigilante Bernhard Goetz; and the trials of two terrorists for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Each headline trial serves as a window into its own era, but the author asserts that the 1968 murder trial of Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton should head the list. Following a shootout with two Oakland policemen, the accused revolutionary put the U.S. itself on trial for 400 years of racism and economic exploitation. That spectacularly dramatic death penalty trial featured three then rarities: a woman defense lawyer sitting second chair; a female majority on the jury and a black foreman. The trial drew an international spotlight on a superpower bitterly divided over the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement and rocked by the assassinations of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and presidential candidate Bobby Kennedy. By the summer of 1968, the FBI called the Black Panthers the greatest internal threat to America’s security. J. Edgar Hoover particularly feared the allure of the Party’s signature breakfast program feeding inner city children, following on the heels of the late Dr. King’s Poor People’s Campaign. Newton had already become an icon of the Left challenging racism, capitalism and an increasingly unpopular foreign war. Many radicals saw him as the vanguard of a second American revolution. All the major power struggles based on race, class, gender and ideology played a pivotal role in one extraordinarily high stakes trial. Panther Party spokesman Eldridge Cleaver predicted warfare in city streets across America if Newton faced execution. The author contends that the surprising verdict of the diverse jury with Newton’s life in their hands still reverberates today—had it turned out otherwise Barack Obama would likely not be President. Reviews

”Lise Pearlman’s account of the tinderbox setting enveloping the trial of Huey Newton perfectly captures how much can be at stake for an entire community—even a nation—in a single trial and the exceptional role played by twelve everyday men and women we trust to decide each case. For those, like myself, who recall this case from our youth, Lise has done a wonderful job in both capturing a movement and its historical context. But anyone interested in history, courtroom drama or criminal justice should read this gripping account of an all too often forgotten chapter of the 20th Century.” —Barry Scheck, Professor of Law, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Co-Director, The Innocence Project

”I was born in Oakland a generation before the mass migration of African-American families to the Bay Area from the South during World War II. I later experienced the highly polarizing 1968 prosecution of Black Panther Huey Newton. Lise Pearlman has written a powerful account of both that trial and its place in our country’s political history. I truly believe that had Newton received a death sentence, we would not have Obama in the White House today. Read this wonderful book.” —Morrie Turner, Award-winning creator of “Wee Pals,” the first integrated comic strip

”Lise Pearlman’s book about the trial of Huey Newton captures the tumultuous times, the personalities, the fighting defense lawyers, including Charles Garry, in a way that makes it eminently worth reading. Garry’s jury selection dealing with race was one of the best pieces of trial work done by anyone. Loved the book.” —James Brosnahan, Senior Partner, Morrison Foerster, recognized among the top 30 trial lawyers in the U.S.

”I began my long career as a criminal defense lawyer in the mid-60’s in Oakland, California and witnessed many of the legal events Lise Pearlman describes. I find her account of the 1968 Newton murder trial and its political context accurate and fascinating. Fans of famous trials will thoroughly enjoy this fast-paced, well-researched book. If ‘THE’ trial of the 20th century can be measured, her argument for People v. Newton heading the list is a strong one.” —Penny Cooper, Member of the State Bar of California Trial Lawyers Hall of Fame

What Does It Feel Like On The ‘Very’ Bottom? …24/7…As A Black Woman, I Can’t Image…But Need Too

Book Ta-Nehisi

capitalism

In ‘Between the World and Me’

An Amazon Best Book of July 2015: Readers of his work in The Atlantic and elsewhere know Ta-Nehisi Coates for his thoughtful and influential writing on race in America. Written as a series of letters to his teenaged son,

Ta-Nehisi Coates Son

his new memoir, Between the World and Me, walks us through the course of his life, from the tough neighborhoods of Baltimore in his youth, to Howard University—which Coates dubs “The Mecca” for its revelatory community of black students and teachers—to the broader Meccas of New York and Paris. Coates describes his observations and the evolution of his thinking on race, from Malcolm X to his conclusion that race itself is a fabrication, elemental to the concept of American (white) exceptionalism. Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, and South Carolina are not bumps on the road of progress and harmony, but the results of a systemized, ubiquitous threat to “black bodies” in the form of slavery, police brutality, and mass incarceration. Coates is direct and, as usual, uncommonly insightful and original. There are no wasted words. This is a powerful and exceptional book.–Jon Foro

I’m Appalled…Killer Still At Large…”System of Racism/White Supremacy”

#endracismwhitesupremacy

Guest on Malissa Harris-Perry Show this morning say, ‘the perpetrator has been caught, but the killer’s still at large’…

The killer ranges FROM those who contributed to the $700,000, especially, poor whites TO the ultra wealthy whites, like the politicians Hilliary and Jeb Bush, who won’t make ‘the killer’ ‘a’ or ‘the’ campaign issue of 2016 with the goal:  to eradicate the “killer at large” … ‘racism/white supremacy’…once and for all.

Frances Welsing said, Blacks need to give whites the homework assignment…to publicly admit and make the eradication ‘the system of racism/white supremacy’ THEIR TASK…until done.

Following her advice, I, personally, charge white people with the responsibility of eradicating the ‘system of racism/white supremacy’…once and for all.

DC Requires Cultural Competent Treatment for LGBT But Not African Americans, Why?

DC Councilmembers David Grosso and Yvette Alexander introduced a Bill to Require Health Care Providers Training in LGBT but not African American Cultural Competency.

Don’t DC’s African American clients deserve the same…especially, since they NEVER HAVE HAD ‘culturally competent’ services?

The LGBT article rightly states, “LGBT people face substantial systemic discrimination in health care due to a lack of understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by the community.” “Cultural competency training is critical to reducing healthcare disparities for LGBT people and improving access to high-quality health care, especially for transgender people.”

The article states further, “[m]ost professional ethics codes require providers to be culturally competent.  However, competency training may be insufficient for marginalized groups, such as the LGBT population, who are at risk for stigmatization and discrimination.”

But consider, the National Association of Social Workers’ 2007 report, Institutional Racism & The Social Work Profession: A Call To Action which summarily calls for the profession to be ‘culturally competent’ to provide “appropriate clinical treatment.”

And, seven (7) years later, it’s 2014 report, Achieving Racial Equity: Calling The Social Work Profession to Action…of which the 1st paragraph reads:

“As of 2013, there is not a single profession in the United States (U.S.) that requires its professionals to demonstrate an understanding of structural racism, nor has a single profession or association established an official base of competencies to address race and racism.”

“Still, in every institution we touch, data show that white people have considerably better outcomes, even when we control for a hosts of other factors.”
Well, the ‘unique needs and challenges’ of DC’s African American community have never been understood; has and continues to suffer health care disparities; needs improved access to high-quality health care; and, unlike the LGBT community, ‘IS HARMED’ by ‘CULTURAL INCOMPETENCE’ due to a lack of understanding of the impact of racism / white supremacy on their health, relationships, and lives, in general.
But no Councilperson has introduced a bill requiring training in ‘Cultural Competency’ for Racial Equity in social services, the police department, and all of D.C. Government.  Councilmembers should be included also since it’s evident they need it so as to, in the future, they will introduce bills that assure culturally competent services to all DC residents. It’s thought that if a ‘Cultural Competency’ for Racial Equity in DC Government bill was introduced and acted upon immediately, it would address the needs of both the African American and LGBT communities…and, everybody else.

#PUUR_Racism thinks the perfect anti or neutralize racism training is a 3- prong package.  First, for an introduction and analysis of institutional racism/white supremacy,  a 2 1/2 day training by The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond.  2nd, a several session program for a more in depth understanding, the Baltimore Racial Justice Action group.  And, (3) for long term behavioral change, #PUUR_Racism ‘s 12 Step Program to Neutralize Learned Racialized Thinking.
